Let us be willing to follow Christ’s example of servanthood by washing one another’s feet.
Many adults in third world countries have limited reading skills and this is because 6th grade is their last year of formal schooling. How do you learn God’s word if you cannot read well? Small group in-depth bible study is out of their reach and they are restricted in their understanding by oral sermons from the pulpit. What can we do to offer these children a life knowing Jesus Christ at a level they can understand?
The Technology Enhanced Learning Programs developed by I-AM, offers a modern method of learning by seeing and hearing. We have taken our four studies, Genesis, John, Luke and Acts, when taken together make a total of 194 one hour Bible Study sessions, will make a full year Primary or Secondary school classroom Christian study program. These programs will give students an overview of the Bible, from Creation to Crucifixion, with comprehensive in-depth studies Genesis, the life of Jesus’ with the two Gospels, followed by Pentecost and the important study of the building of Christ’s church thru the Book of The Acts of the Apostles.
Gospel of John
Our first video based study, the Gospel of John, is based on the motion picture film staring Henry Ian Cussick as Jesus and narrated by Christopher Plummer. The movie is a powerful dramatization of Biblical text and is word for word, based on the American Bible Society's Good News Bible. Available on DVDthis film is broken down into thirty three individual chapters with a total play time of three hours. This means three minutes of play time followed by 30 minutes of discussion of the events viewed. This method gets pretty in-depth into scripture.
How better to understand than to view the actual happenings in real life motion picture and the have a facilitator pose direct questions about what you witnessed? This then is followed up by a lecture aided by Mathew Henry's Commentaries.
After completing the thirty three lessons you will really know the Gospel of John like you have never understood it before. It's like being there!
Now available in Spanish, this wonderful study of John is available to our Latin friends, utilizing the Spanish subtitles to augment the English speaking actors. This also makes it also a useful tool for Christian ESL classes.
Gospel of Luke
Our next venture was to follow the same outline with the Gospel of Luke film. A big thank you goes to JAARS/Wycliffe Bible Translators Vernacular Media Services (VMS) at their Waxhall, NC headquarters. Without their valuable help and expertise, the completion of this study would not have been possible.Luke is a much older and longer film, and in its original format, was not available on DVD.
Wycliffe had a missionary named Barbara Graham, who had several years ago developed a 65 lesson Bible study based on the film, but the project was never carriedforward to conclusion. I took the project on, and with the help of VMS, we turned it into a comprehensive interactive study. Campus Crusade for Christ, who owns the copyright to the film, approved of the project and has allowed us to reproduce it as an Interactive Video Bible Study program.
We are happy to announce that this wonderful Barbara Graham study is now available in the Mayan language of Q'eqchi' (K'ekchi').
This has been an enormous undertaking and with the help of the Vina Project people in Guatemala, the dubbing into this ancient language is now complete. A wonderful 80 year old Wycliffe translator named Fran Euchas, who lives and works in Guatemala, not only translated the script for the film, but completed all of the written materials included in the booklet.
The Mayan people of Guatemala, El Salvador, and southern Belize will now have the first video based interactive Bible study in their ancient native Q'eqchi' dialect.
Book of Acts
On the heels of these two Gospels, 2007 saw the completion of our Book of Acts Video Bible Study.
This study is based on the International Bible Society's film ACTS starring Dean Jones, Henry Arnold, and Jennifer O'Neill.
The Book of Acts is sometimes called, "The Acts of the Holy Apostles". It contains a history of the ministry and miracles of the apostles of Christ, and is a sort of a journal of their actions, from whence it takes its name. It begins at the ascension of Christ, and reaches to the imprisonment of the Apostle Paul at Rome; and is a history of upwards of thirty years:
Again we followed the same word for word format as the previous gospel studies, followed by the relevant written questions and Matthew Henry's Concise Commentaries, after each of the individual twenty eight chapters.
We were aided by Wycliffe's Papua New Guinea ministry, who learned of our efforts and offered their uncompleted Acts questions and art sketches they had been working on years before and had abandoned. We incorporated part of this work to make the study more interesting and informative to the participants.
Genesis
We are proud to announce the release of our newest Bible study for the marginal reader. The study of Genesis is a 68 lesson program with word for word scripture on motion picture film. The Study Guide is written by Barbara Graham and includes a number of questions and a lecture on each of the 68 chapters. This follows the Gospel of Luke study, written by Barbara in 2001 and published in 2003 by Inter-America Mission and is available in English, Spanish and Mayan K'ekchi'.
Let those with ears to hear be given the opportunity to receive God's word in a language they can understand. In this modern day, digital video available with a simple DVD, depict professional actors reciting scripture and performing in living color, the words and actions of characters in the Bible. In the beginning there was Adam and Eve and God's Creation, then to the story of Noah and his Ark and the story of Abraham, then on to Issac and on to Jacob as he wrestles with God. Genesis then culminates with the wonderful story of Joseph. This is 5 hours of motion picture film in 68 chapters each with supplementing questions and comments posed by Barbara Graham in the study guide booklet I hope you will join us in helping to bring all four of these great studies to those who would like to know Him.
Mat 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Mat 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
